Sophie Krier (1976, LU / BE) develops tools for collective narration and reflection. Initially trained as in textile design at the Design Academy Eindhoven, today she interweaves her interests in design, research and education. Between 2004 and 2009 she led the undergraduate course designLAB (Rietveld Academie, NL). She has curated and moderated symposia on questions related to craft and industry, the future of education, the ethics of materials, visual culture, and urban ecology. In 2008, Krier initiated Field Essays, a research on the tactile relation between making and thinking in art & design, published by Onomatopee. She was in residence at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2014-2105, and is currently developing a new Art & Design Practice track for University College Roosevelt (NL) in the spirit of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
